The Clerii for years have searched through coke bags and magazines for a hint that Clerith might be truth (because we all know there's nothing in the actual game). This time, it's the Final Fantasy X bonus disk.
Of course, Destiny Failed watched the video, to see if it could be true. Follow along on our journey, which mainly consists of, "The quest to find Yuna".
At first, we see Nojima talking about how he worked on the scenarios for FFVII and FFVIII, and how he created the relationship... oh boy, it must be here, between the character and the player? Unless the Clerii think that the canon pairing is between Cloud and themselves, I don't see how anyone could see this being about romance. Of course, NO ONE could believe that the pairing was the gamer and the hero... right?
Oh, okay, well, maybe he talks about the couples later. Next he talks about 'Tidus and the player', and how he wanted their relationship to be different.
Here we go, Cloud putting Aerith into the water. "In VII, the character was reserved, so I tried to find ways for the player to imagine what was going through his mind."
Wait a minute... that has absolutely nothing to do with Cloud and Aerith. That's only saying that Nojima used techniques to try and help the player understand what Cloud might be thinking. That's odd.
Next, we have Squall and Rinoa embracing. Nojima continues by saying that Squall's feelings are revealed to the player, but not to other characters. This was meant to make the player feel closer to Squall.
To step aside for a moment, it's more likely than not that Nojima was not even aware of the images they were using in this section, since they don't match up at all with what he's saying. Cloud dropping Aerith into the water isn't a technique to reveal what he might be thinking, and Squall hugging Rinoa is not an example of Squall disclosing what the other characters aren't aware of.
I'm starting to see a pattern here. It appears this section of the video isn't about revealing canon couples at all or even about romantic feelings of the main character. There's one more to see though...
So, here's Tidus, but wait. This isn't the scene with Tidus touching Yuna's shoulder. Yuna isn't even there! I was told this was a scene with Tidus and Yuna, because this section is about three canon couples, is it not?
...
Of course it's not. Sorry for pretending like we might have believed that. In reality, the last section Nojima discusses how Tidus reflects on the past and is a different type of hero than Cloud and Squall. This entire part of the FFX bonus disk was all about a relationship alright. The one between the player and the character. Nothing else.
Now, normally we wonder where the Clerii get their ideas about Cloud and Aerith, but this time we just want to know, where the heck is Yuna?
